Google Docs/Drive: Suggested Edits feature and more

posted Jul 2, 2014, 1:35 AM by Tania Jordan
I have some great news for CGXchange Google Docs/Drive users! Google announced a new feature last week called Suggested Edits for Google Docs which allows you to 'suggest edits' instead of editing the document directly; which is basically a track changes capability!
Now in Google Docs, any user with "can comment" access to a document will be able to make suggested edits to the document. The suggested edits will appear in the document along with a comment explaining the edit. Those with "can edit" permission will be able to accept or reject those suggested edits.
Those with "can view" access will not be able to see suggested edits (until they are accepted) and Viewers will also no longer be able to see regular comments.

Another interesting feature implemented recently on Google Docs is that now both the mobile and Web-based versions of the applications automatically allow users to edit Microsoft Office

documents directly from Google Docs/Drive without having to convert them to the Google format; making it simpler and faster to co-edit documents: Read more
