Sharing with external partners - GMail address or Google Account

Sharing Google Sites, Docs, Calendars from CGXchange with external partners that do not have cgiar.org email address is possible, but to ensure non-CGIAR emails can collaborate with CGIAR Staff on CGXchange, there a few considerations before you can collaborate with them:

Option 1.  Do the external partners have a GMail address they use often?
If the non-CGIAR users /partners (which do not have cgiar.org email addresses) have a personal GMail account, and they would like to use that email address to collaborate with you, just ask them for their GMail email address and use that address to Share the Google Site or Share the Google Docs.

Option 2.  External partners have no GMail address? No problem. Ask them to associate their email address to a Google Account.
If the external user /partner does not have a GMail address, they do not have to create one if not needed. They can easily associate their preferred email address to a Google Account. To do this, they should follow these steps:

a. Open this link: https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?continue=https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount&followup=https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount

b. write your preferred email address, associate a personal password, write the word verification, check the terms of service and click ‘I accept, create my account’. Once final, your preferred email address will now be enabled to collaborate with CGIAR staff on CGXchange.

c. When you have done this successfully, please reply to the person in the CGIAR that wants to share a site, doc and/or calendar with you informing them that you have completed the steps above.

d. The person in the CGIAR that wants to share something with you can now follow these steps to Share the Google Site or Share the Google Docs.
