Get Started with Google Calendar


Google Calendar offers you a space to organize all your activities in one location and gives you the flexibility of sharing information with CGIAR colleagues and non-CGIAR Partners. 
  • Create one or more Calendars for your project
  • Share calendars and events with a small team or the world
  • Publish a public calendar on your website
  • Set the Calendar on your location and time zone 
  • Access it from any computer connected to the Internet

How to access Google Calendar


CGIAR Users:
You need a cgxchange.org account to access Google Calendar.
  • You can access Google Calendar from: http://calendar.cgxchange.org and sign-in with your CGIAR account
  • Need to invite non CGIAR staff? Ask them to share with you their Google account (e.g a @gmail.com address) or to create a personal Google account.

Not from CGIAR? 
We create user accounts for CGIAR staff members only. If you're not a staff member, you can be invited with your Google account.  If you don't have one yet, click here to create a personal GMail account.


Overview

Sign in and click on Calendar in the upper left-hand corner of your screen:


You can view your calendar by:
  • Day: Rows denote time intervals (hour, half hour) 


  • Next [user-defined number] Days: Each day is a column.

    To create a customized calendar view to define the [user-defined number], just follow these steps:

    1. Go to "Settings."
    2. Make sure you're on the "General" tab.
    3. In the "Custom view" section, select the desired time range from the drop-down menu.
    4. Click "Save."
  • Week: Columns denote days::



  • Month: Grid view, with days as columns and weeks as rows:



  • Agenda: A list view of events:
                 


In the Calendar settings, you can customize their calendar view by setting the preferred language, country, time zone, date format, time format, start day of the week, custom view (e.g. next two, three, or seven days) and also display weather information in either Celsius or Fahrenheit. You also have the option to show declined events, and automatically add invitations to the calendar.

You can copy events from another calendar (e.g., Microsoft Outlook) by exporting the other calendar to a file and then importing that file into Google Calendar.

You can share your Calendar with other colleagues and give them the right to add, delete and share events.

You can create a public Calendar and publish it on a Web site or just send its Web address to people who would like to keep up-to-date.
